This 5.25” x 3” (13.34 x 7.62 cm) photograph of the Hyde Park branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County was taken around 1915. Built in 1913, the library is one of six branches of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County funded by industrialist Andrew Carnegie.
During his lifetime industrialist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) gave $41 million toward the construction of 1,689 public library buildings in the United States. In 1902, he gave the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County $180,000 to construct six branches. In 1914, he gave the library an additional $100,000 to build three more branches.
