Built in 1913, the library is one of six Cincinnati branches funded by industrialist Andrew Carnegie. During his lifetime industrialist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) gave $41 million toward the construction of 1,689 public library buildings in the United States. In 1902, he gave the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County $180,000 to construct six branches. In 1914, he gave the library an additional $100,000 to build three more branches.
