Deutscher Tag

This poster announces German Day, or Deutscher Tag, festivities in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 5, 1951, organized by the German-American Citizen’s League, or Deutsch-Amerikanische Buergerliga. The 1951 celebration was the first German Day to be held after World War II. Cleveland was the first city in the United States to host a German Day, in 1890. Cincinnati was the second to inaugurate the event, hosting its first in 1895. Music, dancing and refreshments were all part of the festivities. The poster is 11” x 17” (27.94 x 43.18 cm).
